Algeria: One Terrorist Killed and Five Terrorist Supporters Arrested in One Week — ANP Report

A terrorist was killed in Tébessa and five individuals supporting terrorist groups were arrested during various operations conducted by detachments of the National People’s Army (ANP) between October 8 and 14 across the national territory, according to an operational report released Wednesday by the ANP.

“In the context of ongoing efforts in the fight against terrorism and organized crime in all its forms, ANP units and detachments carried out several operations between October 8 and 14, 2025, achieving significant results that reflect the high professionalism, vigilance, and constant readiness of our Armed Forces throughout the country,” the statement read.

As part of the counterterrorism operations, “ANP detachments eliminated one terrorist and recovered a Kalashnikov-type submachine gun and other items in the Tébessa Military Sector, located in the 5th Military Region,” the report detailed. In the same context, “five individuals supporting terrorist groups were arrested in separate operations across the national territory.”

Regarding the fight against organized crime, and “as part of continued efforts to combat drug trafficking in the country, combined ANP detachments, in coordination with various security services, intercepted 40 drug traffickers and foiled attempts to smuggle in 16 quintals and 13 kilograms of processed cannabis from the Moroccan border. Additionally, 1.61 kilograms of cocaine and 253,816 psychotropic tablets were seized.”

“In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Salah, and In Guezzam, ANP detachments arrested 313 individuals and seized 30 vehicles, 357 electric generators, 264 jackhammers, as well as quantities of unrefined gold ore, stones, and equipment used in illegal gold mining operations,” the same source added.

Similarly, “14 other individuals were arrested, and two submachine guns, three automatic pistols, a sniper rifle, 11 hunting rifles, 19,625 liters of fuel, 52 quintals of tobacco, and four tons of food products intended for smuggling and speculation were seized during separate operations.”

Furthermore, “the Coast Guards foiled several illegal migration attempts along national coasts and rescued 218 people on board makeshift boats, while 374 illegal immigrants of various nationalities were arrested across the country,” the ANP operational report concluded.
