Algeria: FM Attaf holds bilateral talks with Djiboutian counterpart

ORAN, Algeria – The Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held on Sunday bilateral talks in Oran with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Djibouti, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, according to a statement from the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 11th session of the High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa, held from December 1st to 2nd in the Algerian city, Oran. During the discussions, FM Attaf and his Djiboutian counterpart, who is chairing this year’s Oran Process as Djibouti holds the rotating presidency of the African Union Peace and Security Council, reviewed the key issues on the seminar’s agenda, the statement said.
In this regard, both sides emphasised the significance of the Oran Process, which has played a crucial role in strengthening coordination among African nations in addressing the continent’s growing challenges, the source added.
Additionally, the two ministers explored ways to build on the recent achievements, such as Africa’s inclusion in the G20, as well as the positive momentum towards addressing Africa’s demands for reforming the UN Security Council, the statement concluded.
