Algeria Extends Condolences on Passing of French Lawyer Gilles Devers

Algeria expressed its heartfelt condolences on Wednesday and extended deep sympathy to the family of French lawyer Gilles Devers, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 68. Throughout his career, he dedicated himself to defending the rights of oppressed peoples, as noted in a communiqué from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs.

“In light of the passing of French lawyer Gilles Devers, who devoted his career to advocating for the rights of the oppressed, Algeria offers its sincere condolences and profound compassion to the family of the deceased, his loved ones, and all defenders of just causes worldwide,” the statement read.

“With the loss of Master Gilles Devers, the international legal community mourns the departure of an exceptional lawyer who excelled in championing liberation and emancipation causes before both national and international courts. He contributed, until his final days, to several historic legal victories in support of the Palestinian and Sahrawi causes,” the source added.
