Algeria, EU Discuss Deepening Partnership Across Key Sectors

Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received on Tuesday the European Union Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Šuica, who is on an official visit to Algeria.

The meeting provided an opportunity for a comprehensive assessment of the various dimensions of the partnership between Algeria and the European Union, and for exploring ways to further enhance its momentum, dynamism, and balance, in line with the objectives of the “Pact for the Mediterranean” launched in November 2025, particularly in the areas of investment, trade, energy, the green economy, higher education, and the movement of people, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The two sides also reviewed the current development and security challenges in the Mediterranean basin, and emphasized the importance of strengthening joint coordination to ensure an effective and sustainable response to them, the statement said.
