Algeria election : Voters Cast Ballots at Mobile Polling Stations in the Southern Region

In Algeria’s southern provinces, voters from remote and isolated regions began heading to mobile polling stations on Wednesday, 3 days ahead of the scheduled presidential election on September 7th. These early votes were recorded in areas such as Ouargla, Djanet, Tindouf, Tamanrasset, In-Guezzam, and Bechar. Journalists on-site reported that the process was running smoothly across 51 mobile polling stations, where resources were provided by the National Independent Authority of Elections (ANIE) to ensure a seamless voting experience.
In the province of Ouargla, six mobile offices, staffed by 30 agents and supervisors, set out for isolated areas near the El-Borma subprefecture, where 8,147 registered voters will cast their ballots. Voting commenced at the “Omar Ibn-El-Khettab” center in Ain M’ghar, with 1,750 eligible voters. ANIE’s coordinator for Ouargla, Ali Chemsa, confirmed that all necessary resources were in place to facilitate the process. Meanwhile, in Tamanrasset, 19 mobile polling stations were deployed across five communes, expecting to serve over 21,000 voters.
In other regions, voting operations have also kicked off. In Tindouf, 12 mobile polling stations were set up, including one that left on Monday to reach isolated areas. In Djanet, nine mobile polling centers were established to serve 16,000 voters in remote communes. Bechar’s ANIE delegation dispatched two mobile stations to cover areas like Oued-Namous and Fendi. Mobile polling stations in these southern provinces will continue their operations until Saturday, ensuring that voters in even the most distant locations can participate in the presidential election.
