Algeria and Italian ‘Saipem’ discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in oil and gas

Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies, Mohamed Arkab, held a series of bilateral meetings on Tuesday with senior executives from leading global energy companies, on the sidelines of the Mediterranean Energy Conference and Exhibition (OMC Med Energy 2025).

Minister Arkab held talks with the CEO of the Italian company “Saipem,” Alessandro Puliti, in the presence of Rachid Hachichi, CEO of the Sonatrach Group, Mourad Adjal, CEO of the Sonelgaz Group, the Algerian Ambassador to the Italian Republic, and several officials from both sectors.

According to a statement from the Algerian Ministry of Energy, the discussions centered on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sectors, particularly in developing energy infrastructure, executing major exploration projects—especially offshore—along with the production and transportation of hydrocarbons. The talks also covered engineering and industrial services related to these areas, as well as industrial transformation projects such as phosphate.

The two parties also explored ways to strengthen cooperation and investment opportunities in electricity transmission and the enhancement of electrical networks, as well as other areas of mutual interest, both within Algeria and abroad.
