Algeria Advances Digital Transformation with Ambitious Connectivity Goals

ALGIERS – The Algerian Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Karim Bibi Triki, affirmed that Algeria has mobilised exceptional resources to generalise the use of modern technologies of communication and digitization, with the firm ambition to reach prestigious levels.

During the opening of the works of a regional workshop of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), themed “Towards Inclusive and Targeted Connectivity in the Arab Region,” Bibi Triki said that Algeria, which is hosting “this significant event, possesses several assets enabling it to reach the highest ranks at the national and regional levels.”

He added that “Algeria has benefitted from the political will of the country’s highest authorities, led by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who has made the generalization of modern communication technologies and the digitization of government services, one of the important lines of his ambitious program for the economic revival of Algeria.”

Algeria has mobilized “exceptional human resources, with a firm determination to reach prestigious levels in all areas,” emphasized the minister.

After hailing “a generation of young people imbued with national values, seeking to assert themselves and demonstrate their skills in all fields, through start-ups and medium and large enterprises,” the minister said that these companies “have adopted the digitization process and have perfectly integrated it in service of their strategies.”

In this regard, he noted that the progress made by Algeria in the field of fibre optic network connections, as well as the widespread access to fixed and mobile internet for households, individuals and businesses, constitute “a proof of this orientation that we support.”

At the end of his speech, Bibi Triki expressed his hope that this workshop would be “an opportunity to share our experience gained through the achievement of major projects that have transformed the economic and technological dynamics of Algeria in a few years.”
