9,500 Palestinians Detained in Zionist Prisons

The number of Palestinians held in Zionist occupation prisons has reached 9,500 as of early March, according to the Palestinian Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Prisoners’ Club.

In a joint statement relayed by the Wafa news agency on Wednesday, the two organizations specified that among the detainees are 350 children and 21 women. They noted that these figures do not include all detainees from Gaza, particularly those arrested in the region’s camps.

The same sources recalled that before the Zionist aggression on Gaza began on October 7, 2023, the total number of Palestinian detainees stood at 5,250.

The UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, Alice Jill Edwards, stated that the Zionist occupation has subjected Palestinian detainees to inhumane and degrading treatment.

In a report presented Tuesday evening on the sidelines of the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Edwards asserted that “the Zionist administration has inflicted all forms of inhumane and degrading treatment on Palestinian detainees, particularly those arrested since October 7, 2023.”
