4th African Startup Conference to Showcase Algerian Entrepreneurial Leadership

The fourth edition of the African Startup Conference, scheduled for 6-8 December in Algiers, will provide a key platform to highlight Algeria’s leadership in innovation, startup creation, and modern technologies across the continent, according to Noureddine Ouadah, Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises, in a statement on Thursday.

In an interview with national radio, Ouadah described this edition as “remarkable,” emphasizing the “strong support” it has received from the Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

He underscored that the event will showcase Algeria’s pivotal role in advancing modern technologies in Africa, alongside the significant growth of the national startup ecosystem and its expanding influence across the continent.

The minister noted that the conference will serve as a promising platform to attract foreign investment from international funding bodies in attendance. It will also highlight Algeria’s legislative framework, now fully equipped to host sub-investment funds, thereby strengthening the financing environment for startups in the country.

Ouadah announced that Rwanda will be the guest of honor at this edition, which will feature nearly 200 African startups of various scales, including Algerian ventures.

He described the event as youth-driven, building on the success of the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), held in Algeria from 4-10 September, and reflecting the country’s emerging leadership in hosting Africa’s largest commercial and technological events.

Currently in its final stages of preparation, the conference is Africa’s largest event dedicated to startups. It serves as a unique platform that brings together entrepreneurs, innovators, and decision-makers from across the continent and beyond, fostering cooperation, expertise exchange, and entrepreneurship development.

The event also supports the role of youth and innovators in driving sustainable development in Africa.

This fourth edition will spotlight African success stories and mechanisms for transforming simple ideas into startups and multi-million-dollar tech enterprises. Additionally, it will focus on developing joint strategies to address challenges related to financing, capital flow, and brain drain.
