
One terrorist has turned himself in to military authorities in In Guezzam, while nine supporters of terrorist groups were arrested by People’s National Army (PNA) detachments in various operations countrywide between 22 and 28 April, according to the PNA’s weekly operational report released Wednesday.
“As part of sustained efforts to combat terrorism and organized crime in all its forms, units and detachments of the PNA carried out, between 22 and 28 April 2026, a number of operations that yielded quality results, mirroring the high level of professionalism, vigilance and constant readiness of our Armed Forces throughout the national territory,” the same source said.
Within the framework of the counter-terrorism fight, a terrorist known as H.A, akias Maazou, turned himself in to military authorities in In Guezzam, surrendering a Kalashnikov-type submachine gun, a quantity of ammunition and various personal effects.
Separately, other PNA detachments arrested nine support elements of terrorist groups in a series of operations conducted across the country.
As part of the fight against organized crime, and “in continuation of efforts to curb the drug trafficking scourge in our country, combined PNA detachments, in coordination with various security services, intercepted 44 drug traffickers and thwarted attempts to introduce 2 quintals and 35 kilograms of processed cannabis resin from the Moroccan border, while 8.14 kilograms of cocaine and 1,654,908 psychotropic tablets were also seized across operations conducted throughout the Military Regions,” the same source added.
In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Illizi, In Salah and In Guezzam, PNA detachments arrested 692 individuals and seized 27 vehicles, 285 power generators, 174 jackhammers, quantities of raw gold ore and stones, along with equipment used in illegal artisanal gold mining operations.
In addition, 15 further individuals were apprehended and 3 hunting rifles, 181,440 litres of fuel and 25 quintals of tobacco were seized in separate operations, the report stated.
In a further development, “Coast Guard units intercepted multiple illegal emigration attempts along the country’s coastline and rescued 137 individuals aboard makeshift vessels, while 286 undocumented migrants of various nationalities were arrested across the national territory,” the ANP’s operational report concluded.
