Zelenskyy Regrets Tense Meeting with Trump, Calls for Cooperation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed regret to former US President Donald Trump over their tense White House meeting last week, saying it did not go as planned. On X, he reaffirmed Ukraine’s readiness to negotiate with Russia and called for constructive future cooperation under Trump’s leadership.
Zelenskyy outlined steps to end the conflict, including a prisoner exchange, a ban on missile and drone strikes, and a “truce at sea.” He also emphasized Ukraine’s gratitude for past US military aid, particularly the provision of Javelins under Trump. Additionally, he expressed willingness to sign agreements on minerals and security at any time.
Following last week’s meeting, Trump ordered a “pause” in US military aid to Ukraine. Meanwhile, Zelenskyy noted continued European support, citing talks with multiple European leaders and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. He welcomed new EU defense funding, highlighting its role in strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses and advancing efforts to end the war.
