Witkoff’s Visit to Russia Still on Track — Russian Foreign Ministry

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov confirmed that the visit of US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to Russia remains on schedule, stressing that “there is no reason to question the visit.” His remarks signal that direct communication channels between Moscow and Washington are still functioning despite ongoing tensions.

Ryabkov underlined that Moscow is committed to maintaining dialogue with the United States, particularly on strategic issues and efforts aimed at finding diplomatic solutions to the conflict in Ukraine. He noted that Witkoff’s visit is an important step within the ongoing contacts between the two sides.

At the same time, Ryabkov said that several European countries continue to undermine any further progress on the Ukrainian issue, accusing them of obstructing constructive efforts that could move the situation toward a political settlement. According to Moscow, such European positions remain a major obstacle to meaningful diplomatic progress.

These statements come as international attempts to revive diplomacy around Ukraine face significant challenges, while Moscow and Washington seek to preserve their direct channels of communication despite European pressure and divisions within the Western bloc.
