WHO: Over 14,800 Patients in Gaza Need Urgent Medical Evacuation

GENEVA – More than 14,800 patients in the Gaza Strip are still in desperate need of specialized medical treatment, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) warned on Wednesday, urging swift international action to save lives.

“We urge more countries to step forward to accept patients and for medical evacuations to be expedited through all possible routes,” said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in a statement posted on X. His appeal underscores the dire health crisis facing Gaza’s population amid the ongoing caggression and blockade.

The call came as the WHO confirmed it had successfully facilitated the evacuation of 15 critically ill children from Gaza to Jordan earlier that morning. The children were accompanied by 42 companions. “We thank the government and health workers of Jordan for continuously offering specialised care to patients from Gaza, especially children,” Tedros added.
