Two Moroccan Citizens Killed, Hundreds Arrested and Injured in Anti-Corruption Protests

Two Moroccan citizens were killed on Wednesday by Makhzen security forces while taking part in protests against the socio-economic situation and to denounce corruption, several media outlets reported Thursday.

According to the reports, this incident marks the most serious escalation since the protest movement began last Saturday, launched at the initiative of a youth collective.

The same sources added that more than 400 people were arrested and nearly 300 others injured on Wednesday, a day marked by massive mobilization across several cities in the kingdom. Protesters are demanding improvements in public services, particularly in health and education, greater social justice, and a genuine fight against the corruption plaguing Moroccan institutions.
