Sudan Conflict: At Least 14 Killed in RSF Attacks in Western Region

KHARTOUM – At least 14 people were killed in western Sudan in attacks carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which have been in conflict with the government army since April 2023. The victims were reportedly attempting to flee the city of El-Fasher, in North Darfur State, media outlets reported on Monday.

According to the Sudanese human rights organization “Emergency Lawyers,” cited by these sources, the attack occurred on Saturday in the village of Qarni, located along a road out of El-Fasher. The assault left “at least 14 dead, dozens injured,” and several others arrested.

In recent days, the RSF has launched a renewed offensive against El-Fasher, a city they have besieged since May 2024.

The United Nations has repeatedly sounded the alarm over the fate of hundreds of thousands of civilians trapped in El-Fasher with virtually no access to humanitarian aid or essential services.
