Sonatrach Signs MoU with Mozambique’s National Hydrocarbon Company

ALGIERS, Oct 16, 2025 – The Sonatrach Group signed Thursday in Maputo a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mozambique’s National Hydrocarbon Company (ENH) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sectors, the public company said in a statement.

The agreement was signed at the headquarters of Mozambique’s Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy by Sonatrach CEO Rachid Hachichi and ENH Chairwoman Ludovina Bernardo, in the presence of Algeria’s Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, who is on a working visit to Mozambique.

The MoU outlines areas of mutual interest, particularly cooperation in hydrocarbon exploration and production projects in Mozambique, extending to transport, downstream operations, and services across the entire oil and gas value chain.

It also includes collaboration on natural gas distribution networks and the strengthening of ENH’s technical capacities through knowledge sharing in geology, engineering, and petroleum operations, with training sessions provided by Sonatrach.

According to the statement, the agreement “represents a step forward in energy cooperation between Algeria and Mozambique, reflecting Sonatrach’s ambition to expand its activities across the continent as a leading player in Africa’s energy sector.”
