Russia : US Sanctions on Rosneft and Lukoil ‘Counterproductive,’ EU Measures ‘Exhausted’

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova denounced Washington’s new sanctions on Rosneft and Lukoil, calling them “entirely counterproductive” and stressing that such measures will not inflict real damage on Russia.

She said the US actions are politically motivated and will fail to achieve their intended goals, emphasizing that Moscow remains resilient and continues to safeguard its national interests.

Commenting on the European Union’s newly adopted sanctions package, Zakharova said the bloc’s restrictive measures have “largely exhausted themselves,” adding that Russia would respond in a “measured but decisive” manner to defend its economic and strategic stability.
