Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed on Monday Algeria’s full readiness to continue working with the Vatican City to promote a spirit of understanding, spread dialogue, and strengthen coexistence and cooperation.
In a speech delivered at the cultural center of the Great Mosque of Algiers, on the occasion of the official visit of Pope Leo XIV to Algeria, the President of the Republic addressed His Holiness, the Pope, saying: “I renew to Your Holiness Algeria’s full readiness to continue working with the Vatican to promote a spirit of understanding instead of division, to spread a spirit of dialogue instead of confrontation, and to strengthen a spirit of coexistence and cooperation instead of hostility and discord.”
The President of the Republic pointed out that “Algeria fully understands the meaning and significance of these authentic values, deeply rooted in its identity, and is fully committed to supporting them and working to promote them across its various regional spheres of belonging and beyond these spheres.”
He also stressed that “Algeria has always been a space of harmony, interaction, and cohesion, by providing a safe haven for the oppressed, the persecuted, and the deprived, and through its constant defense of human dignity and its continued alignment with just causes across the world, particularly in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and even in Europe.”
“These universal human values, which we share with Your Holiness in believing in, committing to their principles, and working to realize at both the regional and international levels, are the values of social justice, peace, freedom, dialogue, and coexistence,” President Tebboune added.
