President Tebboune: Algeria Stands Firm in Support of Just Causes Worldwide

The Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, reaffirmed on Tuesday Algeria’s steadfast support for just causes worldwide, foremost among which the Palestinian and Sahrawi causes.
In his speech to the Nation before both Houses of Parliament at the Palace of Nations in Club des Pins, the President of the Republic said that “our country’s diplomacy has never changed and never will. We stand with Palestine and will never abandon it, and we will not be deterred by anyone’s reproach.” He added: “Gaza lies wounded, experiencing genocide behind a wall of silence, and we will never abandon it. We have demonstrated this at the UN Security Council, which is why I awarded the National Order of Merit to Algeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Amar Bendjama.”
The President of the Republic also stressed that “the same applies to the Western Sahara issue. We demand that the will of peoples be respected and that they have a voice in their future,” explaining that “when peoples demand independence, they must be respected, and we are committed to international law, which guarantees respect for peoples’ right to self-determination.” Addressing international and regional issues, President Tebboune said that the situation “in Libya breaks our hearts, and we hope for a Libyan-Libyan solution,” adding that any solution in this country “must come from within, from Libyans themselves.” The President of the Republic also highlighted the longstanding fraternal ties that unite Algeria with its African neighbors, especially in the Sahel region.
