North Korea Building New Nuclear-Powered Submarine

North Korea is constructing a new nuclear-powered submarine as part of efforts to bolster its strategic deterrent, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). State media said Kim Jong Un personally guided the construction of an 8,700-ton nuclear-powered strategic missile submarine.
The submarine was described as a key component of the country’s nuclear war deterrent, aimed at strengthening its second-strike capability. KCNA said the vessel is intended to ensure a “merciless retaliatory attack,” highlighting Pyongyang’s continued emphasis on developing advanced strategic military assets amid heightened regional tensions.
