Kremlin : Russia “Will Definitely” Respond to Ukraine’s ATACMS Strike

Russia has vowed to respond to a recent Ukrainian strike on a southern airfield using US-supplied ATACMS missiles, the Kremlin announced on Thursday, Dec. 12. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov assured reporters that a response would follow, stating, “A response will follow when and in a manner deemed appropriate. It will definitely happen.”
The announcement came a day after Russia’s Defense Ministry warned of “appropriate measures” in response to the strike on Taganrog in the Rostov region.
Ukrainian forces launched six ATACMS missiles, two of which were reportedly intercepted by a Pantsir air defense system, while the remaining four were redirected by electronic warfare systems.
The Pentagon also raised concerns about the possibility of Russia launching its experimental “Oreshnik” missile, signaling a potential further escalation of hostilities.
