Danish Defense Minister Rejects Trump’s Greenland Claims: “Will Not Happen”

Denmark’s Defense Minister firmly dismissed the idea of Greenland joining the United States, stating that such a move “will not happen,” in response to recent remarks by US President Donald Trump.
Trump declared on Tuesday that the US would secure Greenland “one way or another,” citing national and international security concerns. Speaking before Congress, he reiterated ongoing efforts to acquire the island and emphasized Washington’s commitment to Greenland’s future.
The Danish official acknowledged that navigating statements from Washington has become increasingly challenging but reaffirmed that the United States remains Denmark’s closest ally. Greenland, an autonomous Danish territory, has previously rejected the notion of US acquisition, despite past interest from American administrations.
