At Least 40 Farmers Killed by Terrorists in Borno, Nigeria

At least 40 farmers were killed by terrorists in Borno, a northeastern state in Nigeria, which is a hotspot for the Boko Haram insurgency and its rival, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
On Sunday evening, ISWAP militants gathered dozens of farmers in the Dumba area, located near Lake Chad, and shot them dead, according to a government official.
The Borno state government has instructed military forces fighting terrorists in the region to pursue and eliminate insurgents operating around Dumba and their strongholds in the Lake Chad region.
The victims were reportedly operating outside the security perimeter set by military forces for agriculture and fishing in this area, which is heavily controlled by ISWAP and Boko Haram and prone to landmines and nighttime attacks.
