ALGIERS, April 21, 2026 – The 15th edition of the International Cultural Festival of Symphonic Music will take place from April 30 to May 7 at the Algiers Opera House “Boualem Bessaih,” with the participation of 21 countries, including the Czech Republic as guest of honor, the festival’s commissioner, Abdelkader Bouazara, announced on Tuesday in Algiers.
Speaking at a press briefing held at the Opera, in the presence of representatives of the foreign diplomatic corps accredited in Algeria, Bouazara stated that this 15th edition “will be organized under the patronage of the Minister of Culture and the Arts, Malika Bendouda, with the participation of 21 countries, which confirms the international dimension of the festival and its growing standing on the artistic scene.”
Regarding the choice of the Czech Republic as guest of honor, the commissioner stressed that it “reflects the organizers’ desire to strengthen bridges of cultural exchange and to offer diverse musical experiences to the Algerian public,” adding that it also “highlights the prominent place of symphonic music in that country, which has a rich tradition and significant musical heritage.”
This edition will also pay tribute to one of Algeria’s most prominent musicians, Noubli Fadel, who passed away in December 2025, “in recognition of his rich artistic career and his contribution to the Algerian, Arab and international music scene,” he added.
For his part, the chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Algiers, Matej Denk, indicated that his country will participate this year as guest of honor with the South Bohemian Philharmonic Orchestra, known for its “high artistic level,” noting that it will perform in Algiers and Oran.
The festival will also feature training workshops for young musicians and students, supervised by Algerian and foreign teachers and experts in orchestral performance, aimed at enhancing participants’ skills and promoting artistic and knowledge exchange among them.
