Algeria’s Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf receives Libyan Ambassador Saleh Hamma Ahmad Bakdah

The Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Attaf received on Sunday the Libyan Ambassador to Algeria Saleh Hamma Mohamed Bakda, at the latter’s request.

According to the ministry’s press release, the meeting was an opportunity to discuss the alarming developments in Libya, particularly the military mobilization across the western and southern regions, as well as the looming risks of a resumption of clashes between the Libyan parties.

In this regard, Minister Ahmed Attaf reiterated Algeria’s call to the Libyan parties to exercise wisdom and restraint, and to prioritize the interests and well-being of the Libyan people above all other considerations.

The head of Algerian diplomacy also underlined the need of collective action to maintain the UN led political process’s achievements, namely the cessation of fighting between the Libyan parties, which must be reinforced to reach a peaceful settlement, and thus security and stability will prevail across Libya and its regional neighborhood.
