Algeria-UK : Investment Opportunities, Theme of Forum in London

LONDON – A forum under the slogan “Algeria is open for Tourism” has been organized by Algeria’s embassy in London, in collaboration with the Algerian-British Business Council (ABBC), in the presence of specialists and tour-operators from both countries.
This meeting, which opened Monday in London and held on the sidelines of the International Tourism Fair and gathering the world’s tourism elite, provided an opportunity for the Director General of Crafts at the Ministry of Tourism, Choukri Benzarour, and the director at the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), Habiba Bouguerroumi, to present all aspects related to this sector’s development.
Algeria’s Ambassador to London, Nourredine Yazid, who chaired the forum’s opening, laid out the cardinal markers guiding this sector’s renewal in Algeria, in the presence of the British Prime Minister’s representative for partnership with Algeria, Lord Richard Risby, as well as the ABBC president, Lady Olga Maitland.
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s reelection for a second term will allow the continuation of the ambitious economic reform program aimed at freeing the country from hydrocarbon dependency and diversifying its revenue sources.
The ambassador underlined that the improved business climate and incentive measures taken by the government constitute additional assets likely to further encourage investments from the United Kingdom, stressing that tourism development is among the priorities. It is considered an essential driver for economic diversification, he emphasized.
Nourredine Yazid expressed hope that the United Kingdom and Algeria, which share a historic and rich bilateral cooperation, will extend their ties to the tourism sector, in which British professionals enjoy an unparalleled global reputation.
ABBC’s president praised the Algerian government’s efforts to develop the tourism sector and promote Algeria as a destination, mentioning particularly measures aimed at facilitating and streamlining visa procedures and the multiplication of tourist agencies.
In this respect, AAPI’s director, Bouguerroumi, went into detail, and her presentation, supported by information sheets, covered the country’s tourism assets, legislative incentives that encourage foreign investment, and guarantees offered to investors.”
