Algeria/Tunisia: Ministers of Industry and Economy Explore Industrial Partnership Opportunities

On Thursday, Algerian Minister of Industry Sifi Ghrieb met with Tunisian Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Abdelhafidh in Algiers to discuss potential partnership opportunities in the industrial and pharmaceutical sectors between the two nations, as reported in a ministry communiqué.
During the meeting at the ministry’s headquarters, “the ministers assessed the current state of cooperation and partnership between Algeria and Tunisia within the industrial and pharmaceutical arenas, as well as the prospects for enhancing these ties in accordance with the privileged bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries and their fraternal peoples, under the leadership of Presidents Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Kaïs Saïed,” the statement noted.
The discussions also covered various sectors that present partnership opportunities for Algerian and Tunisian companies, including textiles and leather, pharmaceutical production, agro-food industries such as natural oils, and automotive spare parts along with certification processes, according to the communiqué.
In this context, Ghrieb proposed the establishment of a joint task force aimed at developing a roadmap to identify all potential areas for cooperation and partnership between Algeria and Tunisia, both in the public and private sectors. He emphasized the importance of promoting development in the border regions to serve as a collective export base, particularly targeting African markets.
For his part, the Tunisian minister expressed his country’s eagerness to foster complementarity and strengthen the bilateral partnership, particularly by increasing the presence of Algerian companies in Tunisia and vice versa. He advocated for enhanced coordination between investment support and facilitation agencies in both countries, culminating the communiqué.
