Algeria-Niger: Promising Prospects for Future Bilateral Cooperation, Niger’s FM

ALGIERS – Niger’s minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad, Bakary Yaou Sangaré, said Tuesday in Algiers that his meeting with the Algerian president, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, was a “significant step” in strengthening ties between Algeria and Niger, with promising prospects for future bilateral cooperation.
“The meeting marks a significant step forward in strengthening ties between Algeria and Niger, with promising prospects for future bilateral cooperation, at the energy level and other key sectors,” Bakary Yaou Sangaré said following the audience granted to him by the president of the Republic.
He added that the discussions mainly focused on “bilateral cooperation between our two countries,” noting that “Algeria and Niger have a very long-standing relationship dating back to 1964.”
Sangaré said “our first joint commission was created in 1971, then transformed into the great joint commission in 2011 and, now, our cooperation covers virtually every aspect of political and economic life.”
The minister also mentioned the latest visit of Niger’s prime minister to Algeria, to “give a fresh impetus to bilateral cooperation.”
