Algeria : Five Terrorist Supporters Arrested, Quantity of Ammunition Seized in One Week

Five terrorist supporters were arrested by detachments of the People’s National Army (PNA) in different operations nationwide and a quantity of ammunition was seized, during the period from 21 to 27 January, the PNA said Wednesday in an operational report.
“As part of sustained efforts in the fight against terrorism and multifaceted organized crime, units and detachments of the People’s National Army carried out several operations from 21 to 27 January 2025, resulting in high-quality results that reflect the high professionalism, vigilance, and constant readiness of our Armed Forces throughout the country,” said the same source.
As part of counter-terrorism efforts and border security operations, “a combined force seized during a search and inspection operation in Tamanrasset in the 6th Military Region, 3 rockets of RPG-7 type and a quantity of ammunition, while other detachments of the PNA arrested 5 terrorist supporters, in different operations across the national territory.” As part of the fight against organized crime and “in continuity of efforts deployed in order to thwart the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, combined detachments of the PNA intercepted, in coordination with the different security services, during operations executed across the Military Regions, 28 drug traffickers and foiled attempts to introduce one (1) quintal and 74 kilograms of cannabis resin coming from the borders with Morocco, while 3.5 kilograms of cocaine and 468,516 psychotropic tablets were seized,” added the same source.
“In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Salah and In Guezzam, PNA detachments arrested 263 individuals and seized 25 vehicles, 339 generators, 213 jackhammers, as well as quantities of mixture of raw gold and stones and equipment used in illegal gold panning operations,” said the report.
“17 other individuals were apprehended and one one Kalashnikov submachine gun, 4 hunting rifles and 12,580 liters of fuel destined for smuggling were seized during distinct operations,” said the source.
“The Coast Guards thwarted, along the national coasts, attempts of irregular emigration and rescued 73 individuals aboard makeshift boats, while 371 irregular immigrants of different nationalities were arrested across the national territory,” concluded the report.
