Algeria Explores Partnership Prospects with ASEAN

Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held Sunday in Istanbul, Turkey, bilateral talks with the Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamad Hasan, on the sidelines of the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC), the ministry said in a statement.

According to the statement, the meeting focused on reviewing the various aspects of the Algerian–Malaysian relations and exploring ways to further enhance their momentum, particularly in the economic sphere. It also addressed prospects for a partnership between Algeria and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), in anticipation of Algeria’s expected accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.
