Algeria-Egypt: A commitment to deepening fruitful bilateral cooperation

ALGIERS – Algeria and Egypt share deep-rooted historical relations characterised by a strategic partnership aimed at fostering fruitful cooperation to meet the aspirations of their peoples. Both nations are committed to maintaining a tradition of consultation on regional and international issues, particularly those affecting the Arab-Muslim world and the African continent.
This commitment will be further exemplified during President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s working visit to Egypt. In recent years, bilateral relations have gained momentum, driven by the will of President Tebboune and President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi to enhance their historical ties and promote cooperation across various sectors for the common interests of both countries.
The dynamic nature of these relations serves as a model of solidarity between Arab and African nations, as evidenced by regular exchanges of official visits between the two countries’ leaders. Notably, President Tebboune visited Cairo in January 2022 at President Al-Sissi’s invitation and later participated in the COP27 climate conference in Sharm el-Sheikh in November of that year. From his part, President Al-Sissi attended the 31st ordinary session of the Arab Summit that was held in Algiers in November 2022.
The leadership of both countries places significant emphasis on continuous dialogue and coordination on issues of mutual interest, particularly concerning the Arab-Muslim world and Africa, ensuring ongoing collaboration and support for one another.
