Algeria and Lebanon agree to accelerate activation of Joint Governmental Committee

BEIRUT – Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, was received on Sunday by Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, as part of his visit as a special envoy of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
During the meeting, Minister Attaf “renewed his heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister Salam on his appointment” and the official formation of the new Lebanese government, wishing him success in fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to him, the statement said.
In this regard, Minister Attaf reaffirmed Algeria’s solidarity with Lebanon and its readiness to continue offering all forms of support during this crucial and decisive phase in the country’s history, the source added.
On the bilateral front, the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss ways to implement the mutual desire of both countries’ leaderships to strengthen their relations and expand areas of cooperation. Moreover, it was agreed to expedite the activation of the Joint Governmental Committee and promote interaction between business leaders and economic operators through the Joint Business Council.
