Al-Quds Governorate Warns Against Zionist Plan to Build 9,000 Settler Homes in West Bank

Al-Quds Governorate on Monday warned of a dangerous Zionist settlement project that aims to construct 9,000 settler homes in the central West Bank, that is a direct threat to the city’s geographical and demographic links with surrounding Palestinian areas.

In a statement, the governorate said the Zionist occupation authorities are targeting lands near Al-Quds International Airport and neighboring areas to implement the plan. The project reportedly includes densely populated Palestinian neighborhoods such as Kafr Aqab, Qalandia, Al-Ram, Beit Hanina, and Bir Nabala. Officials said the initiative deepens the separation and isolation policies imposed on the city and undermines any political horizon based on a two-state solution.

Palestinian officials warned that implementing the plan would establish a settlement enclave separating northern Al-Quds from its Palestinian surroundings. The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission stated that the Zionist entity had seized 2,800 dunams of West Bank land last November through squatting, expropriation orders, and modifications to state land boundaries.

The UN has repeatedly declared Zionist settlements in occupied Palestinian territories illegal under international law, highlighting that they hinder prospects for a two-state solution. In July, the International Court of Justice issued a landmark opinion calling the Zionist entity’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and urging the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Al-Quds.
