US House Speaker Johnson Criticizes Zelenskyy, Suggests Ukraine Needs New Leadership

Washington – US House Speaker Mike Johnson criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following his tense meeting with President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance at the White House. Johnson stated that Zelenskyy needs to “come to his senses” and show gratitude for US support or allow “someone else to lead the country.”
In an interview with NBC News, Johnson emphasized that Trump is working toward a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia. He noted that Zelenskyy’s behavior at the White House, where he reportedly interrupted and berated his hosts, indicated he is not ready for peace. Johnson also defended a mineral rights deal between the US and Ukraine, arguing that it benefits both nations economically and strengthens security ties.
The White House meeting turned confrontational after Zelenskyy questioned whether US engagement with Moscow could lead to peace. Trump and Vance criticized him for a lack of gratitude, with Trump warning that Ukraine’s actions risk “gambling with World War III.” Republican Senator Lindsey Graham also suggested that Zelenskyy should resign or send a representative more willing to cooperate with Washington.
