TICAD : Ministerial meeting rules in favour of the Sahrawi side

TOKYO – Participants in the ministerial meeting of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) have definitively resolved the issue of participation in TICAD meetings in favour of the Sahrawi side.
The meeting concluded its session on Sunday with the adoption of a joint communiqué with the term “African Union member states” in the first paragraph, affirming the right of all AU member states to participate in partnership meetings between Africa and Japan.
The TICAD meeting experienced a scandalous breach of diplomatic protocol when a Moroccan diplomat physically assaulted the Sahrawi ambassador. This incident occurred after Moroccan media reports attempted to spread false claims about the exclusion of the SADR from the meeting.
