Spanish Parliament Passes Motion Urging Arms Embargo On Zionist Entity

The Spanish Parliament passed a proposal introduced by leftist and nationalist parties, calling for a ban on the sale of weapons to the Zionist entity due to the ongoing conflict against the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip that has escalated since October 2023, according to various media reports.

The text recommends halting all exports of military equipment to the Zionist entity, including gear, helmets, and bulletproof vests that could be utilized in the conflict against Gaza.

The proposal was brought forward by the Sumar coalition, part of the ruling government, alongside the Podemos party and the Republican Left of Catalonia, which is currently in opposition.

Podemos leader Ione Belarra urged the ministerial council to formally and promptly implement a ban on arms sales to the Zionist entity.

In response, Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles confirmed that arms exports to the Zionist entity have been suspended since October 7, 2023, the day when the conflict began, leading to 53,655 deaths and 121,950 injuries, primarily among women and children.
