Sahrawi President Leads Meeting to Support Political Prisoners in Moroccan Jails

The President of the Sahrawi Republic and Secretary-General of the Polisario Front chaired a meeting focused on monitoring and supporting Sahrawi political prisoners held in Moroccan prisons. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Sahrawi National Committee for Human Rights and assessed efforts at both national and international levels to secure their release. Participants emphasized the need to develop a joint action plan to intensify advocacy efforts.

Representatives from various human rights institutions and organizations attended the meeting. In his speech, the Sahrawi President highlighted the significance of the campaign, urging greater solidarity with Sahrawi political prisoners and increased awareness of their suffering, particularly in light of the absence of international monitoring mechanisms. He praised the resilience of Sahrawi activists in the occupied territories despite ongoing Moroccan repression.

The President called on all Sahrawis, regardless of their location, to mobilize through demonstrations and solidarity gatherings. He stressed the importance of exposing what he described as the Moroccan occupying state’s repressive policies and breaking the blockade imposed on the occupied Sahrawi territories. The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to intensifying efforts for the release of all Sahrawi political prisoners and advancing their cause on the international stage.
