Russian Film Week Opens in Algiers

Russian Film Week opened Sunday evening at the Ibn Zeydoun Hall with the screening of the drama “The Challenge”.
The opening ceremony was attended by Russia’s Ambassador to Algeria, Alexey Solmatin, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Algeria, and cinema enthusiasts. The event featured the screening of “The Challenge” (2023) by Klim Shipenko, a film that tells the story of a surgeon sent to the International Space Station (ISS) to save the life of a cosmonaut. The movie stars a number of actors and cosmonauts, including actress and cosmonaut Yulia Peresild.
Organized by the Russian Embassy in Algeria in cooperation with the Riadh El Feth office, the event will also feature screenings of other Russian films, including “On the Road” (2023), “Adventure” (2025), and “The Opera Dogs” (2023). The activities of Russian Film Week will continue until October 3.
