Prime Minister Reaffirms President Tebboune’s Commitment to Deepening Algeria–Tunisia Partnership

Algeri’s Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb reaffirmed Thursday in Tunis the strong commitment of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to advancing relations between Algeria and Tunisia and to working with President Kaïs Saïed toward deeper strategic integration.

“At the start of my visit to the brotherly Republic of Tunisia, I had the honor of being received by His Excellency President Kaïs Saïed, to whom I conveyed the greetings of his brother, the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune. I also reiterated, in particular, the President’s great interest in developing bilateral relations,” Mr. Ghrieb said after the audience, held on the sidelines of the 23rd session of the Algerian-Tunisian High Joint Commission.

He emphasized the President’s “strong willingness” to continue working with his Tunisian counterpart “to promote the partnership between the two countries toward greater strategic integration and solid, inclusive development,” in line with the approach adopted during President Tebboune’s 2021 state visit to Tunisia.

The Prime Minister noted that President Saïed expressed “the special esteem he holds for his brother, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, as well as his determination to continue working with him to advance the partnership between the two countries.”

Ghrieb said he listened “with great attention” to President Saïed’s insights on strengthening cooperation and mobilizing available capacities to elevate the partnership to the highest levels.

The meeting also assessed preparations for Friday’s session of the High Joint Commission and stressed the need to use the occasion to “reinforce the legal and institutional frameworks of cooperation” and create favorable conditions for developing the bilateral partnership in the interest of both nations.

Talks likewise addressed “promising perspectives and opportunities” to strengthen trade and investment, key themes of the Algerian-Tunisian Economic Forum held Thursday evening with the participation of numerous economic operators from both countries.

According to Ghrieb, the forum underscores the “immense potential” of economic partnership and its role in supporting development and improving the well-being of the Algerian and Tunisian peoples. He described it as “an important step toward building an integrated partnership, supported by institutions, expertise and joint efforts, and working side by side for a promising future for our two brotherly and neighboring countries.”

The meeting also reaffirmed the convergence of views on major regional and international issues, “particularly the Palestinian question and ways to support the brotherly Palestinian people in recovering their legitimate rights, through the establishment of an independent state with Al-Quds as its capital.”

The situation in Libya and “means of contributing to reviving the political settlement process in this neighboring and brotherly country” were also discussed.
