New Satellite Launch Expands China’s Space-Based Internet Network

China successfully launched its 18th batch of Internet satellites into orbit, using a Long March 8A rocket from the Hainan launch site. This latest deployment expands the country’s state-run satellite Internet network to more than 140 satellites, significantly enhancing its global coverage capabilities.
The growing constellation aims to provide worldwide Internet connectivity, supporting China’s strategic goal of establishing an independent and comprehensive space-based communication infrastructure. The expansion underscores Beijing’s ongoing investment in advanced space technologies and its ambition to compete in the global satellite Internet market.
With this launch, China strengthens its ability to offer reliable Internet services from orbit, potentially bridging connectivity gaps in remote regions and further asserting its presence in the rapidly evolving space communications sector.
