Moroccan Lawyers Launch Protest Against Proposed Judicial Reform, Halting Justice System

The Association of Moroccan Bar Associations (AMBA) has intensified its protest against a controversial judicial reform, which it claims threatens to marginalize lawyers and undermine the rights of litigants. In a forceful statement released today, the AMBA called for a comprehensive mobilization of its members to defend the principles of justice and uphold the constitutional and social rights of Moroccan citizens. The association’s decision to halt the justice system underscores the seriousness of its grievances regarding the proposed changes.
The AMBA expressed profound concerns over the unilateral approach taken by the government in proposing these reforms, warning of potential adverse effects on the legal framework. The association emphasized that such measures could compromise the integrity of the justice system and diminish the role of legal professionals in safeguarding citizens’ rights. In light of these concerns, the AMBA has urged the government to reassess the proposed reform and engage in constructive dialogue with legal experts to address the issues raised. By advocating for collaboration, the AMBA aims to ensure that the interests of justice and the public are adequately protected in any future reforms.
