Iran denies involvement in alleged assassination plot against US officials

TEHRAN – The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, said on Saturday that allegations regarding Iran’s involvement in the assassination of American officials are a “disgusting conspiracy” to further complicate issues between Iran and the United States, according to IRNA news agency.
In his remarks, the spokesman rejected those claims as “completely baseless,” adding that “the same claims against Iran have been dismissed in the past and their inaccuracy has been proved,” the same source added.
The Associated Press (AP) reported on Friday that the US Justice Department charged an Iranian man in connection with an alleged plot ordered by Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards Corps to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump.
