Energy and Mines : Bilateral Cooperation at the Center of Talks Between Algeria and Russia

ALGIERS – Algeria’s Minister of State for Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies, Mohamed Arkab, met on Wednesday in Algiers with Russia’s Deputy Minister of Energy, Roman Marshavin, and his accompanying delegation, the ministry announced in a statement.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Algerian and Russian companies in energy, mining, and renewable energy sectors. This meeting took place ahead of the 12th session of the Algerian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation, scheduled for Thursday in Algiers.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing collaboration, particularly in hydrocarbons, gas and oil field development, and industrial energy projects involving Sonatrach and Gazprom. They also explored renewable energy opportunities, including solar, wind, and thermal power, as well as nuclear applications in medicine and radiopharmaceutical production.
Arkab emphasized the strategic partnership between Algeria and Russia, reinforced by agreements and action programs. Marshavin highlighted Russia’s interest in expanding investment in Algeria, especially in energy, and praised the strong cooperation within OPEC and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) to stabilize global markets.
