Algerian middle-distance runner Djamel Sedjati has secured a spot in the final of the 800m event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Sedjati earned his place by winning the first semifinal heat on Friday at the Stade de France.
He completed the race in 1:45.08, finishing ahead of Masalela Tshepiso, who clocked in at 1:45.33, securing second place.
In the second semifinal heat, another Algerian athlete, Mohamed-Ali Gouaned, was unable to join his compatriot in the final, finishing eighth with a time of 1:46.52.
The top two finishers from each of the three semifinal heats, along with the next two fastest times overall, advance to the final, which is scheduled for Saturday at 18:05.
