Belgium: Two Suspects Sought Following Shooting in Brussels Metro

BRUSSELS, February 5, 2025 – Belgian police are actively pursuing two suspects following a shooting early Wednesday morning at a downtown metro station, according to media reports citing sources close to the investigation.

“The shooting did not result in any injuries,” announced the Belgian prosecutor’s office. The television network VRT reported that the incident, which occurred around 6:15 AM local time (5:15 AM GMT), is believed to be drug-related, with the assailants targeting an individual but missing their intended victim.

VRT broadcast footage on its website showing two individuals entering the Clemenceau metro station in central Brussels and opening fire. In the aftermath, the station, along with several others in the Belgian capital, was closed.

Another video captured a large group of heavily armed police assembling at the Clemenceau station as a massive manhunt for the suspects began.

The incident caused significant disruption to traffic within Brussels’ busy metro system.
