
A terrorist surrendered to the military authorities of Bordj Badji Mokhtar and seven terrorist supporters were arrested by Army detachments in different operations conducted from 15 to 21 October, the Algerian People’s National Army (PNA) said Wednesday in an operational report. “As part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and multifaceted organized crime, units and detachments of the People’s National Army carried out several operations with excellent results between 15 and 21 October 2025, reflecting the high level of professionalism, vigilance and constant readiness of our Armed Forces throughout the national territory,” the statement said.
As part of counterterrorism efforts, “PNA units from the Tamanrasset Military Sector in the 6th Military Region dismantled a terrorist cell made up of seven members, seizing two Kalashnikov submachine guns, a quantity of ammunition, as well as various other materials, according to the report.
“A terrorist named Hammou Salah Ahmed, alias H’Maïdi, surrendered to the military authorities in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, in the 6th Military Region, in possession of a Kalashnikov submachine gun, a quantity of ammunition and other items. While other PNA detachments arrested 7 terrorist supporters, in various operations nationwide.” As part of the fight against organized crime and “as part of the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in our country, combined detachments of the People’s National Army, in coordination with various security services, intercepted 70 drug traffickers in operations carried out across the military regions and foiled attempts to smuggle (into Algeria) 2 quintals and 98 kg of cannabis through the Moroccan border, while one kilogram of cocaine and 1,499,695 psychotropic tablets were seized,” the statement said.
In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Salah, In Guezzam, Illizi and Djanet, the PNA detachments “arrested 405 individuals and seized 42 vehicles, 345 electric generators, 289 jackhammers, as well as quantities of mixed raw gold and stones, detonation tools and equipment used in illegal gold panning operations.” “16 other individuals have been apprehended and 3 hunting rifles, 11,499 liters of fuel, as well as 44 quintals of tobacco and 13 tons of food products intended for smuggling and speculation have been seized, and this, during distinct operations.” “The Coast Guards foiled, on the national coasts, attempts of irregular emigration and rescued 210 individuals aboard makeshift boats, while 344 irregulat immigrants of different nationalities have been arrested across the national territory,” concluded the report.
