Algeria : Six Terrorists Eliminated, Nine Support Elements Arrested in One Week

Six (6) terrorists were eliminated and nine (9) individuals supporting terrorist groups were arrested by detachments of the People’s National Army (ANP) in various operations across the Algerian territory during the period from September 24 to 30, 2025, according to an operational report released Wednesday by the ANP.

“In the context of sustained efforts in the fight against terrorism and organized crime in its various forms, ANP units and detachments carried out several operations during the period from September 24 to 30, 2025, achieving high-quality results that reflect the professionalism, vigilance, and permanent readiness of our Armed Forces across the entire national territory,” the statement read.

As part of counterterrorism operations, “during a high-level operation in the Tébessa Military Sector in the 5th Military Region, ANP detachments eliminated six (6) terrorists and seized six (6) Kalashnikov-type submachine guns, ammunition, and other effects. Meanwhile, other ANP detachments arrested nine (9) individuals supporting terrorist groups in various operations nationwide,” the report detailed.

In the fight against organized crime and continued efforts to curb drug trafficking in the country, “combined ANP detachments, in coordination with security services, intercepted 28 drug traffickers in operations carried out across the Military Regions, thwarted attempts to smuggle 853 kilograms of processed kif from the Moroccan border, and seized 170,142 psychotropic tablets.”

In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Salah, In Guezzam, Djanet, and Illizi, ANP detachments arrested 529 individuals and seized 23 vehicles, 327 generators, 220 jackhammers, 3 metal detectors, as well as quantities of raw gold ore, stones, and equipment used in illegal gold mining.

Similarly, “17 other individuals were arrested, and a heavy machine gun, two (2) Kalashnikov-type submachine guns, a Simonov semi-automatic rifle, one (1) automatic pistol, 10 hunting rifles, along with 31,635 liters of fuel, 158 quintals of tobacco, and 2.65 tons of foodstuffs destined for smuggling and speculation were seized in separate operations,” the report added.

Moreover, Coast Guards foiled attempts of illegal migration along the national coasts and rescued 514 individuals aboard makeshift boats, while 671 illegal migrants of various nationalities were arrested nationwide, the ANP statement concluded.
