Algeria Reaffirms Commitment to South-South Cooperation at High-Level Forum in Sierra Leone

At the 3rd Africa High-Level Forum on South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development, held in Freetown, Sierra Leone, from May 7 to 9, Algeria reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to promoting solidarity, peace, and sustainable development among countries of the Global South. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s speech, delivered on his behalf by Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui, emphasized Algeria’s dedication to advancing these principles as a cornerstone of its foreign policy.
President Tebboune expressed gratitude to Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio for hosting the forum, highlighting its vital role in supporting Agenda 2063 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. He praised the African Union and the African Peer Review Mechanism for organizing the event, stressing the importance of cooperation in addressing the continent’s development challenges amidst a rapidly changing global environment.
Algeria, he affirmed, will continue to champion a multipolar world rooted in solidarity and non-interference. As part of this vision, Algeria has launched several initiatives, including the creation of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation and reforms to its investment framework. These efforts aim to foster inclusive development, attract investment, create employment, and deepen economic ties among Southern nations.
