
Secretary of State to the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of African Affairs, Selma Bakhta Mansouri, received Wednesday, at the ministry headquarters, South Africa’s Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Alvin Botes, during his visit to Algeria for the 12th Conference on Peace and Security in Africa “Oran Process,” according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs.
The meeting provided an opportunity to “review the level of close cooperation and progress made in implementing the recommendations from the latest session of the Grand Bilateral Cooperation Commission, held in December 2024, in Algiers, under the joint chairmanship of the two countries’ Presidents, Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Cyril Ramaphosa,” the statement said.
They emphasized “the need to continue activating cooperation mechanisms and deepening coordination to strengthen economic and trade partnership, in line with the ambitions of the two leaders and the significant available potential,” the source added.
The two sides also exchanged “views on key African issues of mutual interest,” welcoming the active role of Algeria and South Africa in defending just causes and reaffirming their commitment to pursuing joint efforts at the regional and international levels,” said the source.
