
ALGIERS, 6 Nov 2025 – Algeria hosted on Thursday the ministerial meeting of the Tripartite Mechanism of neighboring countries concerning the crisis in Libya. The meeting brought together Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf; Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdel-Ati; and Tunisia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, according to a statement from the ministry.
The meeting allowed for consultations and an exchange of views on developments in Libya and on ways to support efforts to relaunch the political process under the auspices of the United Nations. The statement noted that neighboring countries are directly affected by the repercussions of the Libyan crisis and are closely involved in seeking a lasting resolution.
The Tripartite Mechanism’s work concluded with the adoption of a joint communiqué reaffirming the importance of the principle of Libyan ownership and leadership of the political process. The communiqué called on all Libyan parties to prioritize the national interest, end divisions, unify political and military institutions, and organize presidential and legislative elections.
The communiqué also reiterated the position of the three countries rejecting foreign interference in Libya’s internal affairs and calling for the withdrawal of foreign mercenaries and combatants from Libyan territory.
Additionally, the joint communiqué noted the role and efforts of Algeria at the United Nations Security Council to highlight the responsibility of the international community in safeguarding Libyan national resources and ensuring the proper management of Libya’s frozen financial assets.
